What is website security?
There are two things you need to be concerned with where websites are concerned: The security of your website files against malware & the security of information passed between your site visitors and your website. In this article, I’ll go over how to secure your website files against malware. We’ll explore how to secure information passed between your site visitors and your website in the next article.
In this technical world, it’s nearly impossible to run a business properly without a website. And, if you have a website, it’s important to make sure it is secure.
Protecting Your Website Files
If not properly protected, websites can be susceptible to all kinds of cyber attacks. The most common of which includes the insertion of malware or phishing on your site. This can lead to issues with website function, compromising your site visitors, and even blocks and warnings instated by Google.
Luckily, we can recommend some high quality, easy to use options. I’ve tested them myself and can attest to the quality. The two companies I can recommend getting a website security product & firewall from are Design Rainbow (us, of course) and GoDaddy. We both use products built by Sucuri, which is a big name in the website security industry. We both integrate our website security products well with our other products, and we provide in-house support so that it’s easy and worry-free for you.
My Security Recommendation
Personally I recommend our Website Security Deluxe plan. It protects against malware and includes ongoing removal and Google blacklist monitoring like the Website Security Essential plan. But, what makes this plan better is the use of a powerful Web Application Firewall and a Content Delivery Network. We use the Deluxe plan on this website.
The WAF is an additional barrier of protection against attacks.
The CDN improves performance of your website by bringing your content closer to your visitors.
